All Spanish Holidays
Below, you'll find a list of All Spanish Holidays ... first the public holidays for 2005, then the fiestas.
Spain is famous for its fiestas and there are a good number of them, so perhaps we have not managed to track down every single one!
Some of the better-known Spanish festivals include:
- Las Fallas of Valencia during March. Giant satirical figures are burnt, there are fireworks, dancing and flower offerings.
- The Feria de Abril - or April Fair - in Seville from 15-21 April. This festival dates from 1847 and is a tremendously colorful event, with everyone dressed in local flamenco costume.
- Semana Santa - or Holy Week - when impressive religious processions take place all over Spain - Andalucia in particular.
- Romer a de And jar in Jaen, with a mass pilgrimage to the shrine of the Virgin.
- Fiesta de San Ferm n in Pamplona, where the famous bull-running takes place.
- La Tomatina in the village of Bu ol, Valencia. People happily pelt each other with ripe tomatoes turning the streets into rivers of tomato juice! Why? For the fun of it!
However, we digress ... we said we would start with a list of the public Spanish holidays ...
