Spanish Food Recipes -
Turron

One of the popular Spanish Food Recipes - especially at Christmas - is turrón.

Turrón is a sweet or candy, made out of almonds and honey, whose origins rest with the sweet-toothed Moorish conquerors of Spain.

Nowadays, it's recognised very much as Spain's Christmas-time sweet.

You'll discover numerous types on offer in shops out here but - basically - there are two main types.

A brittle, hard type of turrón ... and a soft one.

Both are delicious - the ideal ending to a celebration meal, accompanied by a small cup of coffee.

Most turrón is produced in Alicante Province - in particular, around Jijona.

Earlier this year - when a friend was over on holiday - we visited one of the turrón factories there. Wonderfully clean and well-organised ... and the products absolutely superb!

Below is a straightforward recipe for home-made turrón so that you can relish the flavour of a Spanish Christmas!

Eat and enjoy this delightful treat!
