Want to know the Valencia
region of spain? ...

Valencia region of spain

The romantic, Mediterranean Valencia region of spain is a land of orange groves, rice paddies, tourism - and birthplace of paella.

Composed of three provinces - Castellón to the north, Valencia in the centre, Alicante to the south - it offers more than 500 kilometres of superb coastline, and gorgeous Mediterranean resorts.

The famed Costa Blanca is located in the southerly part of the region, and home to top tourist resorts such as Benidorm and Torrevieja.

The sweet-smelling Costa Azahar - or Orange Blossom Coast - lies further north. Relish its beautiful beaches and beautiful towns - Peñiscola, Oropesa, Morella ...

Equally fine beaches can be found in the province of Castellón - though quieter, having so far evaded the tourist package crowds.

Valencia Region also possesses an abundance of marvellous towns and cities - awash with history, and portraying Phoenician, Greek, Iberian, Roman and Moorish influences.

The regional capital is the sophisticated city of Valencia - Spain´s third-largest city - with the elegant city of Alicante as the second-largest city in the area.

Valencia City successfully combines both ancient and modern. What an abundance of magnificent historic monuments! Not to mention superb futuristic architecture such as the City of Arts and Science, and the Oceanic Aquarium - Europe´s largest.

The city is really coming into its own - especially since its hosting of the 32nd Americas Cup Sailing Race in 2007.

Alicante is another beautiful city - a wealth of fine shops, plenty of historic sites, plus a gorgeous seafront promenade to enjoy.

South of Alicante lies the town of Elche - home to Europe´s largest palm gardens. Whilst not far away - in Torrevieja - are Europe´s largest salt flats.
