low-calory garlic prawns



A popular spanish tapas seafood recipe is "garlic prawns" - better known to Spaniards as "gambas al ajillo".

These tapas are ideal to make at home because they're best enjoyed immediately after cooking.

Prawns are also a low-calory food - plus they won't take you long to prepare!

garlic prawns (gambas al ajillo)

Ingrediants - for 4 people

  • 400 gr prawns - shelled
  • 6 cloves garlic - peeled and sliced
  • 1 red hot chilli pepper - finely chopped
  • Olive oil
  • Seasoning
  • 1 tablespoon freshly-chopped parsley
  • 1 lemon - quartered
  • Method

    1. Heat a little oil in pan and add garlic slices.
    2. When just starting to colour, add the chilli pepper.
    3. Cook for 2 minutes, then increase the heat.
    4. Mix in the prawns, then sauté 1-2 minutes each side.
    5. Season, and sprinkle with the chopped parsley.
    6. Serve, accompanied by lemon wedges.
