madrid's marvelously mixed climate ...Madrid's situated on the country's elevated, central plateau - and it's claimed to have a temperate, Mediterranean climate! I don't think its inhabitants always agree with this however! They complain that the winters are long and cold, with the three summer months being unbearably hot! I've visited during May - and found the weather absolutely ideal for sightseeing. Boundless blue skies ... yet a pleasant breeze which didn't sap your energy. Blissful! Have also enjoyed several pleasant journeys during July and August. Yes, it was hot ... but I didn't find it any worse than on the Costa Blanca - where I live. In winter, temperatures in Madrid will often drop below 0C ... July temperatures can surpass 30C, occasionally reaching as high as 40C during August. Summer and Winter are Madrid's driest seasons, with Spring and Autumn being wetter. So, how are the temperatures there to-day ...
