On my weekly visit to the local outdoor fruit and veg market, I often get carried away with the bargains and overload on fruit.

What better way of using it up than with this mouth-watering recipe for Fruit Brochettes?

The basic recipe is extremely healthy, and you can alter the fruit to include what you have in the fridge, or whatever’s in season.

Feel like spoiling yourself? Or, perhaps you’ve guests you want to impress?

Then add chocolate and cream … they’ll turn an already attractive and mouth-watering dessert into something special.

Fruit Brochettes

Simple Spanish Dessert Recipes – Pinchos de Frutas

(Fruit Brochettes)

Ingredients

  • 2 bananas
  • 2 apples
  • 2 pears
  • 2 oranges
  • 2 slices melon
  • Little brown sugar

Optional:

  • 200 gr dark chocolate
  • 1 glass single cream

Method

  • Peel fruit and cut into large chunks.
  • Arrange fruit on 4 brochette spears.
  • Sprinkle with sugar.
  • Brown under hot grill.
  • Serve.
  • Optional: melt chocolate in microwave, stir in cream.
  • Serve brochettes on bed of chocolate or covered in it.
